Narrative Still Life

Black and White

Color

Duo tone

Extra Credit
  • These objects represent me because they all are involved in my life on way or another. My Hydroflask represents me because I am always concerned about my health and diet. I am always using my phone to communicate and as a school tool. My necklace is a remembrance of my grandma. My shoes show that I live an active healthy life and I love to travel. The quote "People do not lack strength they lack will." reminds me that I am capable of achieving all my goals if I set my mind to it. Lastly, my bluetooth headphones represents my love for music and that I am constantly moving so I can't always be connected to my phone.
  • I like that there is a balance between the photo that even if it was cut in half vertically I still have half the photo to represent me.
  • Elements of Art: Form & Texture Principle of Design: Balance
  • I could improve on changing the organization of the objects and I could of done the picture outside or somewhere i always hangout like the gym, home or school.
  • I think in the years from now I will have different objects maybe the same type like a different water bottle but for the most part different objects because I will be out of school and hopefully in my own home or traveling outside of California. Since I will hopefully move on my own time and be more independent I will have more objects that I use on a daily basis like a car or a wallet.

Advertising Project

  1. I used shoes because it was a clothing product and when I grow up I want to be sponsored by a clothing company and I want to be able to rep the brand on the streets and online.
  2. I did achieve my goal because I wanted something athletic related and something clothing related.
  3. The color scheme I used was cool colors (Blue and Violet) and I used direct lighting.

Still Life

  1. This still life represents youthfulness and color.
  2. The lighting in my image is direct.
  3. To improve on my composition I could have moved the black blanket so it would't have blocked my shot.

  1. This still life represents a harsh truth that might change your thoughts and your ways of living life.
  2. The lighting in my image is direct.
  3. To improve on my composition I think I should of moved the flower on the left so then it would of been blurry and the center piece would be the only one in focus.

  1. This still life represents color and joy.
  2. This lighting is direct.
  3. I think I could have fixed the background so there wouldn't have been any wrinkles or folds in the cloth.

Bringing Action to Life sequence

  1. My favorite part of this photo is that we can slowly see more of her as she gets farther to the right of the screen.
  2. The most difficult part of this project was choosing the photos that were clear and didn't overlap weirdly.
  3. The easiest part of this project was choosing which angle to shoot the subject because there are only a limited amount of angles to shoot from to get the motion effect.

Shooting Water in Motion

Phone Photos

1- This wasn't too difficult to shoot because the water moved slow enough that the picture would turn out clear.
2- We first did a test run on hoes the water moves and we reviewed those shots. Then we changed the order of the colors to get the maximum amount of color and to not just end up with a big black blob.

1- It was not easy to get the shot because I thick that photos turn out the best when my setting is outside. Every time I use my android phone inside it can looks too dark or it can look fuzzy or blurry. So inside this dark setting it was hard to focus my camera and get a shot that can see the drop. Also timing the drop with the phone was really hard because for my burst mode I was limited to only 30 drops.
2- The thing I didn't like about using burst mode was that some of the photos would turn out blurry and it wouldn't catch the moment I wanted to picture.

DSLR Photos

1-Yes it was easy to get the shot because there was better lighting than the phone lighting and we had more control over when we wanted to take the shot.
2-I think that shooting without flash helps not get the glare of the light in the water. Also, it helped get all the color that the flash might have blurred out.

1- It was easier to get the shot on the DSLR than a phone because we had more control on the timing of the shot and it was also on a tripod so we didn't have to worry about the shakiness of our hands.
2-The part I didn't like about shooting the water with the flash was that there was a glare and it would take away some of the color from the background.

Artificial Motion Blur

Motion Blur added

The picture looks sort of real because it looks like the dog is moving to look somewhere around an object.

Burst Photos

The Snatch

This photo is a proper way of lifting the barbell off of the blocks. This certain lift is called the snatch and is a very difficult move to master in olympic lifting. Here the athlete is performing the snatch at a some what difficult weight for him and successfully makes the lift with very clean technique and power.

Green Screen Project

Originals-

Photoshop-

Responses-
  1. The most difficult part of this project was finding a background for the photo I took. I was going to put him in a boy band group but the proportions were all off and then I was going to put him in a dark alley but the perspective was all off. then I chose to just put his head on an album cover.
  2. The part I like most was changing the hue and saturation so it was similar to the original cover.
  3. The thing I could most improve on is planning my photos and edits before starting the project.

Responses:

  1. The tool I used most was the soft brush tool.
  2. The best part of the composition is that any one can put a story to the photo. Like in the top photo it can be during war, and in the second photo it can be the imagination of a freshman kid daydreaming in class.
  3. It was not difficult to combine the pictures because before I started I watched (Mrs. Bible) combine her photos.
  4. I could of changed the shading to make the object blend with the photo better but I ran out of time.

Speed Challenge Quiz

Edited
Original

  • The qualities that I admired in Mac Stone's photos were:
    • The stories behind the photos
    • The depth of the subject, foreground or background
    • The obvious subject in the photo.
  • The quality I like most in my photo is the obvious subject.
  • I think my shot is amazing because it wasn't the shot I was going to initially use and I didn't think that into planning to this photo, I just did a point and shoot and the picture turned out better than I thought.
  • I used the grid on the camera hack to take the photo so I could use rule of thirds. I also adjusted the hues of the photo by using a hue and saturation layer. Lastly, I cropped the photo to fill the scene with only the subject.
  • This was a challenge because I didn't just want another photo of the school, I wanted to put something into the school to add interest to it.
  • Element of art- Space
  • Principle of Design- Proportion/Scale

  3. In image #2-Original it uses harmony and texture.
  4. Image #1- Filter 2 is my favorite because I think it adds just a little more texture.

Exploring Landscapes 2

#1
#2
#3

Responses:
  • I did try to use the rue of thirds and in photos #2 and #3 I focused on the sky and in photo #1 I emphasized the land.
  • I used proportion in #3 to show the different sizes between the cars and the houses.  I also used rhythm in photo #1 with the repetitive trees in the background.
  • Photo #1 was taken before sunrise and photos #2 and #3 were taken mid day. I think these were bad times to take photos because the lighting was off.
  • I don't think I did a very good job with the foreground and background relationship. My pictures have objects in the background but not many in the foreground.

  • Burned Edges
Channel Mixer

Lab Color Method

Gradient Map

Desaturation

Responses:
  • I think the Gradient Map produced the best result.
  • I did not achieve a big value range for all of them, only Gradient Map and Desaturation gave me a good value range.
